If ATLA Characters Were Theatre Nerds
Aang: The Ringer
- First freshman to be cast as a lead in like 100 years
- He has the range (musicals, contemporary, period pieces, drama, comedy, improv, absurdism)
- So humble nobody can hate him even though they're all super jealous
- Always forgets about the sign-in sheet
- Entire wardrobe is show shirts
- Keeper of the first aid kit
- Memorizes everyone's lines/blocking and knows immediately if they mess up no matter how minor the mistake
- DO NOT TOUCH THE PROP
- Actively seeks out new people and invites them to participate--also super encouraging to everyone during auditions
- Mom friend(TM) until the cast party hits and then you can bet she's blowing off some steam
Sokka: Mr. Student Director Sir
- Innovative ideas but terrible time management
- Ruthless about off-book day
- Always wins at Zip Zap Zop
- King of changing the blocking every rehearsal right up to tech week
- Lies and says he'll only be at opening but secretly attends every performance in a disguise
Suki: Stage Combat Queen
- Amazing fight skills but not a great dancer so no musicals for you
- Still cast in like seven minor roles every season bc Sokka always finds a way to work in his combat scene for her
- Queen of wearing a fake mustache to play a dude because only three guys auditioned
- Go-to girl if you need help with stage makeup
- Love her but she cannot find her light for heck
Toph: Stage Crew Superhero
- Was cast in ensemble one time and hated it; switched to stage crew and refuses to do anything else
- No matter how impossible the scene change, she gets it done y'all
- Queen of finding misplaced props five seconds before they're needed onstage
- Special bumpy spike tape because accommodations (WHY DOESN'T THIS EXIST IN REAL LIFE)
- Fatal flaw is she always, always, always talks backstage at the moment everything is supposed to be silent and the audience can hear
Zuko: Bad Boy? Yeah No
- Uncle forced him to join theatre club to make new friends and he thought it was dumb at first but now he takes it super seriously
- Will shush you if he hears you talking backstage and tattles if you eat in costume
- There's always that ONE line he will say a million different ways, all of them wrong
- Loses his script constantly
- One time an audience member's phone went off and he almost broke character to give them a piece of his mind
Mai: Emo Theatre Kid
- Brecht is her favorite and that's all you need to know
- Uses stage makeup as her everyday makeup
- Has never seen Legally Blonde the Musical and swears she never will
- Never remembers to take off her nail polish before opening
- Always plays the Mom/Nurse/Caretaker roles
Ty Lee: Perpetual Ensemble
- Amazing dancer but gets too nervous during auditions so she's always in ensemble
- Biggest talent is being able to fall asleep anywhere backstage and magically wakeup right before her cue
- Brings cookies for everyone on opening
- Knows all the choreography to every song from SIX
- Steals all of the bobby pins from wardrobe
Jet: "That Guy"
- Got cast because he's tall and an upperclassman and y'know...only three guys auditioned
- Never has a pencil to take down notes
- Misses his cue because he's too busy flirting with the ensemble
- Paraphrases his way through his monologue but honestly isn't a bad actor, so they always let it slide...
- Nowhere to be found on opening so Katara has to go on in his stead and she's never forgiven him since
Azula: The Girl Who Thinks She's Heather Chandler
- Writes fictional characters' names in all the spots on the audition sheet so she's the only one who can officially sign up
- Gets mad when she's not cast as the lead role and quits because of it
- Uses Ty Lee's free ticket to attend so she can post on Facebook later about how dumb it was
- Purposefully shows up 15 minutes late to performances and waits to go to the restroom until intermission is over
- Is the reason Zuko's script is always missing
Literally!!! 😭😭😭
